Security seals are used to protect the goods In shipping transportation and proof of tamper evidence. They are categorized, into single-use and reusable. Single-use is usually made of plastic or metal while electronic security seals are reusable. Transportation industries require a high level of security and evidence if anything happens during the transit. Hence electronic or mechanical security seals are used for them, that is fixed to the back of the trucks or trailers. Cargo theft and tampering are quite common and, hence various types of security seals are used. The security seals are also used to detect any unauthorized access. Cable seals, bolt seals, plastic seals, Wire seals, plastic pull Tight seals, metal strap seals, are some of the security seals. Bolt, ball, and cable are designs of metal seals.
Cable seals are strong security seals that provide tamper evidence
and a high level of security. It becomes necessary to secure the truck
trailers, chemical drums, utility meters, trolleys, etc. while shipping them. The
cable seals consist of a lock body, lock sleeve, steel wire rope, and lock. ISO
17712 is met by cable seals which imply high security, used for international
cargo shipping.
Bolt seals are easy to put in place but have a complex
mechanism inside them. The steel bolt
and tamper-evident body need to be attached manually to form a seal. To cut the
seal, a bolt cutter is needed.
Plastic pull tight seals are used for, sealing
hazardous items, fire extinguishers, vehicle doors as they are durable and have
good strength. Fixed length plastic
seals are cheap. Thus, they are cost-effective when considering sealing cargo
shipments. Metal strap seals and
fixed-length plastic seals are similar, only the difference is the material. Wire seals are suitable for small holes and,
the wires are made of metal, which makes them more durable than plastic seals.
